In order to avoid the risks of medical nomadism, the CHPO of Bourgoin-Jailleu (Lyon) joined our DSAA Interactive Design class(Bac+4) to improve the maternity service. In groups of 3, we were immersed with the staff and the mothers in order to carry out an anthropological study to identify the "pain points" and thus propose adapted solutions by design.

Afin d'éviter les risques du nomadisme médical, le CHPO de Bourgoin-jailleu (Lyon) s’est associé à notre classe de DSAA Design interactif (bac+4) pour améliorer le service maternité. En groupe de 3, nous étions en immersion auprès du personnel et des mamans afin d’effectuer une étude anthropologique pour repérer les "pain points" et ainsi proposer des solutions adaptées par le design.

First, we went through the user journey of the mothers in the maternity hospital together, based on their testimonies. We identified a recurring problem concerning night-time luminosity: when mothers wake up in the night to breastfeed their child, they have to make a diversions of use allowing them to have optimised luminosity (turn on the flash telephone - bring in a nightlight - half-open the bathroom - leave the TV on).

Nous avons d’abord ensemble repris le parcours de l’utilisateur des mamans au sein de la maternité en fonction de leurs témoignages. Nous avons repéré un problème récurrent concernant la luminosité de nuit : lorsque les mamans se réveillent dans la nuit pour allaiter leur enfant, elles ont eu recours à des détournements d’usage leur permettant d’avoir une luminosité optimisée (allumer le flash téléphone - rapporter une veilleuse - entrouvrir la salle de bain - laisser la télé allumée).

The baby's cycle interrupts the mother's night. In this moment of intimacy and nocturnal atmosphere, light is a annoyance.

Le cycle du bébé entrecoupe la nuit de la maman. Dans ce moment d’intimité et d’atmosphère nocturne, la lumière gêne.

PrototypingPrototypage

Using the déjà-là: When we looked at the rooms, we could see a touch screen TV hanging on the bed. We decided to propose a hypothesis using the déjà-là, I took care of the prototyping.

Utilisation du déjà-là : En examinant les chambres, nous avons pu observer la présence d’un écran de télévision tactile accroché au lit. Nous avons décidé de proposer une hypothèse en utilisant le déjà-là, je me suis occupé du prototypage.

On a simple touch, the screen turns on. Spreading your fingers allows you to activate the brightness of the screen and generate an abstract round and warm form, regardless of the atmostphere of breastfeeding.

Un simple contact avec l'écran permet d'allumer l'écran. Écarter les doigts permet d'actionner la luminosité de l'écran et ainsi générer une forme abstraite traduisant une ambiance ronde et chaleureuse, à l'image du moment de l'allaitement.

To leave the light source behind, the TV can become a bedside lamp with a hologram kit.

Pour laisser de côté la source lumineuse, la télé peut devenir une lampe de chevet grâce à un kit hologramme.
